A Community Cinema, By Design

The Old Sticky Shoe was built 76 years ago to gather people for a singular purpose: communal storytelling. For decades, it fulfilled that role — evolving in name and era, yet always remaining a place where neighbors sat side by side.

Film Maven Haven Society is committed to restoring that purpose with renewed intention. As a 560-seat community cinema featuring both a 300-seat and 260-seat auditorium — including a stage-equipped screen for talkbacks and live components — The Old Sticky Shoe will serve as a true third place for Utah County.

Built by John H. Miller — whose five theaters helped shape regional cinema culture. The cinema — then known at the Coral — was his final project and the last of his cinemas still operating.

The Miller family continued to operate the cinema for nearly three decades, finally selling the theater in 1976.

The new owners built a dividing wall down the center to create two auditoriums, and later added a small stage in the west auditorium. The theater was renamed Towne Cinemas.

In 2021, under new ownership, the building became The Town Hub and focused more on live entertainment.

Maven Cinemas operated the historic cinema under the most recent ownership from September 2023 to June 2024 when an electrical fire in a neighboring tenant’s space shut the building down for repairs.

For 75 years, it served as a gathering place for generations of families. Affectionately known as the Old Sticky Shoe, it remains deeply woven into the city’s identity.
